Privacy policy
WorkVoicer is a work order and invoicing tool that runs entirely in your web browser. It was built so that your business information stays with you. This page explains what that means in practice.
The short version
- There are no accounts and no sign-up.
- Your clients, work orders, invoices, expenses, receipts and logo are never sent to us. They stay on your device, or in your own Google Drive if you choose that.
- We don't use analytics, tracking cookies or advertising on this site. The only third-party code is Google's sign-in, loaded only if you use Google Drive.
- When you type a street address for a client, what you type is sent to an address search service to suggest matching addresses (see below).
Where your data is stored
Everything you enter in WorkVoicer is stored in places you control:
- Your database file: the
.sqlitefile you create or open in the app. You choose where it's saved (on your device, or in your Google Drive, see below), and you can copy, back up or delete it like any other file. - Your browser's storage: a working copy kept by your browser so the app opens quickly, plus your preferences (such as dark mode). Clearing your browser's site data removes it. Your database file is not affected.
PDF invoices and exports are created on your device and downloaded straight to it.
Google Drive (optional)
If you choose Continue with Google Drive or Save to Google Drive, WorkVoicer asks Google for permission to see and manage only the files WorkVoicer itself creates in your Drive (the drive.file permission). It cannot see any of your other files.
- Your browser talks to Google directly. Your data goes from your device to your own Drive and back, and never passes through any WorkVoicer server (there isn't one).
- WorkVoicer reads your Google account's email address only to show which account is connected.
- The sign-in token Google issues is kept in your browser's storage until it expires (about an hour) and is not sent anywhere else.
- You can stop syncing at any time in Settings → Data & backup, and remove WorkVoicer's access entirely at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Your file stays in your Drive until you delete it.
WorkVoicer's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from your Google Drive is used only to save and load your WorkVoicer database, is never used for advertising, and is never transferred to anyone.
Address suggestions
When you type in the Street field on the client form, after a few characters your browser sends what you have typed to Photon, a free address search service run by komoot that uses OpenStreetMap data. Photon receives the text you typed and, like any website, your IP address and browser type. Nothing else is sent: not the client's name or contact details, and nothing else from your database. Your browser talks to Photon directly; it doesn't pass through any WorkVoicer server. Nothing is sent while you're offline, and you never have to use a suggestion: you can always type the full address yourself.
What our hosting provider sees
To deliver the website, the company that hosts it receives the standard information any website receives when a page is requested: your IP address, browser type, the pages and files requested, and the time. This is used to serve and protect the site and is not linked to anything you enter in the app, which never reaches us.
Offline use
After your first visit, your browser stores a copy of the app's own files (not your data) so WorkVoicer can work without an internet connection. You can remove them by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Sharing
If you use Share… on an invoice, your device's own share feature sends the PDF to the app you choose (for example your email app). That happens on your device; WorkVoicer is not involved in sending it.
Children
WorkVoicer is a business tool and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If how the site works changes in a way that affects your privacy, for example if advertising is introduced, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the date at the top will change.
